Ruptured Achilles!!!
So last Monday, after I scored a beautiful curved high corner goal, I ruptured my achilles. I heard a giant POP! and it felt like someone kicked me and I went down. The pop sound made me think something was definitely wrong. Luckily Chris was at the game so he brought me to the hospital. I waited there while Chris brought the kids to Danny & Marie's. finally I got in and he booked me in for an ultrasound the next day. So Chris brought me in and we had to go through emergency again to get the results. That doc told us it was a complete rupture and made us an appointment for an orthopedic consult. That appointment didn't happen til Friday at the royal Alexander. Chris brought me there and that doc recommended surgery so he put me on the wait list. It was tough waiting to find out when I was going to have surgery. Luckily I wasn't in too much pain. I finally got a call Sunday night to come in that night. We went in late, 9:30, and they put an iv needle in right away. I have tough veins to find and the one she found was on my inner wrist and hurt a lot. I could barely sleep because of it. I also was off food & drink at midnight. I thought surgery was going to be in the morning but it wasn't. We played the waiting game til around 1 when they said the doc had 4 add on surgeries he would start at 5 and I was the second. It was awful laying around in the uncomfortable bed, no food or drink, getting sore and just waiting. I finally had surgery at 7:30. The anesthesiologist made it firm that I could get tooth damage and they were not liable, I didn't like the thought of having to go to the dentist on top of my leg! I didn't like the oxygen mask and found it hard to breathe with it. But I went out fairly quick and woke up to them calling my name in recovery. Once I was alert enough they wheeled me back to my room where Chris was waiting. It was so good to see him. I felt a little nauseous but had some water and ice chips. Then felt like puking and spit up all the water which wasn't much thank goodness! They gave me gravol which helped. Chris left and I slept. I had a pretty good night. I had to have 3 rounds of antibiotics so had to stay til 11. Chris visited me while he was at the sturgeon and then mom and the girls picked me up at 11.i was so glad to be going home. We stopped and got my t3 prescription at Walmart which took 40 mins! It was awful waiting in the van and my leg was sore. Next time I'll go to save on drive thru and just get it done quick. So here I am, at the end of the day. I had a nap, mom baked some pure flax seed muffins, made me supper, did laundry and tending of the kids. I'm so thankful for the help.
